ONCOFemTech
Advancing Oncology and Women’s Wellbeing
The ECO Foundation has been designated as a liaison entity for technological innovation in the
Community of Madrid, through the ONCOFemTech Hub program, awarded in the 2022 call for grants to
promote technological innovation and boost technology transfer to the productive sector. This program is
part of the priorities of the Regional Strategy for Smart Specialization (S3) of the Community of Madrid
and has a co-financing of 30% by the Community of Madrid and 20% by the European Regional
Development Fund (ERDF) under the ERDF Operational Program 2021-2027.
The aim of this initiative is to promote innovation in FemTech (technology applied to women’s health)
and oncology in the Community of Madrid, Spain and Europe, fostering strategic alliances to improve
prevention, medical care and, ultimately, health outcomes.
THE PROGRAM COVERS A WIDE RANGE OF KEY AREAS, WITH AN INCLUSIVE APPROACH
THAT BENEFITS BOTH WOMEN AND MEN, AND COVERS FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS SUCH AS:
– Women’s health
Maternal health, menstrual health, pelvic health, sexual health, hormonal, fertility, menopause,
contraception, mental health, nutrition and physical exercise.
– Oncology

Through all these areas
ONCOFemTech Hub aims to improve the quality of life of patients, integrating actions in the areas of

– Oncology and innovation FemTech
In the field of innovation and technology, the objective is to create a supportive environment for
femtech start-ups, promoting closer collaboration between government and industry to advance
the sector, in the quality of life of oncology patients. In addition, it seeks to promote technological
innovation in the women’s health sector, in order to improve the quality of life of oncology
patients in areas such as reproductive health, maternal health, menstrual health, pelvic health,
sexual health, hormonal, fertility, menopause, contraception, mental health, nutrition and physical
exercise.
– Gender Medicine in Cancer Care
The program places particular emphasis on the specific challenges faced by women in accessing
prevention and screening. It also highlights the need to personalize treatments, taking into
account the importance of providing care focused on the individual characteristics of each
patient. Gender Medicine is integrated into oncological care, addressing the specific needs of all
patients, both physical and emotional. In addition, psychological, sexual and hormonal difficulties
that may arise throughout treatment are addressed. This comprehensive approach seeks to
provide holistic support, not only in terms of medical treatment, but also in the overall well-being
of patients.
– Supporting caregivers
Although most initiatives focus on women’s health, there is also a great opportunity to collaborate
in the area of different types of cancer. In this context, the program recognizes the importance of
caregivers. In particular, the third initiative of the program focuses on addressing the difficulties
faced by women caregivers, creating synergies with treatments and products in this area.
Women who care for family members with cancer face psychological, economic and work-related
burdens. For this reason, we are working to create care models that integrate the needs of
caregivers, recognizing their fundamental role and ensuring that they have the necessary resources to be able to offer the best support to their loved ones.
