Re-Certification of Oncology Pharmacies

Advancing Oncology and Women’s Wellbeing
The ECO Foundation has been designated as a liaison entity for technological innovation in the
Community of Madrid, through the ONCOFemTech Hub program, awarded in the 2022 call for grants to
promote technological innovation and boost technology transfer to the productive sector. This program is
part of the priorities of the Regional Strategy for Smart Specialization (S3) of the Community of Madrid
and has a co-financing of 30% by the Community of Madrid and 20% by the European Regional
Development Fund (ERDF) under the ERDF Operational Program 2021-2027.
The aim of this initiative is to promote innovation in FemTech (technology applied to women’s health)
and oncology in the Community of Madrid, Spain and Europe, fostering strategic alliances to improve
prevention, medical care and, ultimately, health outcomes.

– Does this mean that in 9 hours I will be an expert in oncology? Oncology is one of the most complex medical specialities today. This course is a basic oncology course aimed at community pharmacies so that, based on the knowledge of a pharmacy graduate, we can add the basic and up-to-date knowledge that will be most necessary to accompany and provide better care to oncology patients. This will give us greater confidence in what we can and cannot do. Recertification sessions will be held annually.

– What makes this course different from other oncology courses for community pharmacists? – This course is taught by leading oncologists. The content is not associated with any laboratory products. It is a rigorous, scientific training programme endorsed by the ECO Foundation. The programme covers many aspects of the patient’s daily life in which the community pharmacy is the first point of contact and can be of great help. It is also the first course that leads to a certification in oncology endorsed by a highly prestigious and independent organisation such as the ECO Foundation.
