Certification of Community Pharmacies in Oncology
Advancing Oncology and Women’s Wellbeing
The ECO Foundation has been designated as a liaison entity for technological innovation in the
Community of Madrid, through the ONCOFemTech Hub program, awarded in the 2022 call for grants to
promote technological innovation and boost technology transfer to the productive sector. This program is
part of the priorities of the Regional Strategy for Smart Specialization (S3) of the Community of Madrid
and has a co-financing of 30% by the Community of Madrid and 20% by the European Regional
Development Fund (ERDF) under the ERDF Operational Program 2021-2027.
The aim of this initiative is to promote innovation in FemTech (technology applied to women’s health)
and oncology in the Community of Madrid, Spain and Europe, fostering strategic alliances to improve
prevention, medical care and, ultimately, health outcomes.
Certification for Pharmacists
– Course Objectives:
To develop a program for community pharmacists so they can acquire basic
oncology knowledge, gain confidence, better understand patient needs, and assist patients in
alignment with their hospital care team .
– Program Structure:
The online course is divided into 12 sessions of approximately 1.5 hours
each . The speakers are medical oncologists of renowned prestige and experience . All content
is available on the platform for enrolled students to access at their convenience .
– Joint Certification:
Upon passing a knowledge test, pharmacists receive a diploma and a
display sticker certifying the pharmacy in basic oncology by the ECO Foundation and Oncology
Academy . Annual re-certification is required to ensure knowledge remains updated .
– Annual Re-certification:
Annually, additional update sessions are held with a corresponding
evaluation test . Upon passing the test, a new diploma and a distinctive sticker for the new year
are received . This process ensures a commitment to continuous learning.
A Key Resource: The Map of Oncology Pharmacies
Certified pharmacies are featured on a digital map of oncology pharmacies . This map is a valuable
resource used to help patients locate pharmacies that offer specialized oncology support.
